jasonlevipinegar asked: I heart you

no, i heart you.

Alright, new great find. myWordCount. "Counts and charts the word and phrase usage in your document. Helps you find repeating words and phrases and examine sentence length." The trial version is pretty limited though. Only $15 for the full version. I like.

how to… where was i… oh yeah, focus.

so i finally figured it out. i used to have quite a hard time focusing on a task without getting interrupted by a text message, email, or facebook… and usually if i get distracted by any one of those three, i end up checking the other two and losing about 10-15 minutes of my life. my phone is usually the culprit because i’ll get an email notification and then it’s downhill from there… well, i finally figured it out. you may wonder why i didn’t do it sooner… but i’ve turned off my push email notifications on both my phone and computer, and voila. totally able to focus. it was that simple. i go check my emails whenever i want, instead of having the emails check me whenever they want… schweet.

the latest mac app

for those who are interested… this “BetterTouchTool” app is pretty dang slick for the trackpad or the magic mouse. it allows you to really customize the current abilities of them both.

SelfControl app... very helpful

This is a sweet little app that is designed to block websites for a specific amount of time to eliminate the website as a possible distraction when you’re really trying to get something done. pretty slick… probably most useful for facebook and email…

Homemade Spacecraft (by Luke Geissbuhler)

Oh man… so on my walk back to the car from class today, my path crossed with this homeless dude. Now let me tell you about the homeless dudes down here in Sunny San Diego. First off, what a better place to be homeless? Pretty much perfect weather year ‘round. Well everyone talks about how nice the homeless people are down here, it’s kinda weird. I’ve had two experiences with them so far, the first one was a couple weeks ago. The guy was sitting on a power box while I was paying for the parking meter. He saw my shirt which had “el diablo” written on it, which means “the devil”… I don’t know why I have that shirt, but that’s beside the point. Anyways, he says to me, “Whoa dude, el diablo… but you’re way nicer than el diablo, right?” I laughed and looked over to see him rolling a joint of marijuana. He then proceeded to tell me he used to go to school at UNR (University of Nevada, Reno)… those crazy UNR guys… Funny stuff. So today when I encountered this other homeless dude, I happened to have my phone in my hand so I pressed record because this conversation was crazy! You’ll have to excuse the loud background noises and my heavy breathing… I sound like a fat kid climbing a ladder… but he was saying the craziest things! I still have no idea what any of it meant…

Cinch

another incredibly useful tool for mac users… never leave home without it.

iphone headphone usb adapter

i have looked forever for something like this, and finally found it. very handy for using your iPhone headphones on your computer for making voice calls. with this adapter it allows you to use both the headphones and the microphone. on top of all that, you can’t beat the price.

Paytrust®– the all–in–one online bill pay service

pretty slick online bill management. i already love and use mint.com to manage finances, this just adds a whole new level of nerdiness. you can actually have your bills mailed to these guys, they’ll scan them in and post them to your account. way boss.

Google Quick Search Box

great tool for my mac friends… allows you to double click the command button and pull up a box to search your computer and the internet. shibby.

Google Notifier for Mac

another mac favorite… gmail notifications in the status bar. also replaces the default mailto: links with gmail, instead of the default mail program on the mac.
